COMING EVENTS

The Annual Business Awards is the time to celebrate all aspects of business in Cootamundra and the shire villages of Wallendbeen and Stockinbingal. The Business Awards is an initiative of the Cootamundra Development Corporation

The 2016 Business Awards Dinner will be held at the Cootamundra Ex-Services Club on Saturday 18th June 2016

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN.

 Nominations close on Friday 27th May 2016.   

Who do you think deserves recognition for the work that they do or service they provide for our local community, it’s time to start thinking about your nomination whether it be as a customer for a business or as an employer with an outstanding employee, trainee or apprentice!!   

2016 Nominations Include:

  • Cootamundra Apprentice/Trainee of the Year Award

    Selection Criteria – NB: nomination by Employer only 

This award is for the individual that is making a difference within your organisation. Give examples where the trainee/apprentice has shown dedication, initiative and genuine work ethic along with true  ambition in their chosen field 

  •  Cootamundra Award for Individual Dedication to Customer Service

This award is for the individual within a business/organisation that offers exceptional customer service 

  • Cootamundra Award for Events & Promotion

This award is for the business, organisation or individual that provides outstanding service in promoting Cootamundra and/or organisation or community events


·         Cootamundra Development Corporation Giraffe Award for Customer Service

This award is for the business/organisation that goes that extra step to reach out to their customers. Give examples of how the business/organisation caters to the needs of their customers and offers exceptional customer service


·         Cootamundra Employee of the Year Award

Selection Criteria – NB: nomination by Employer only

This award is for the individual that is making a difference within your organisation. Give examples where the employee demonstrates outstanding loyalty, dedication, genuine work ethic, versatility and excellent customer service


·          Cootamundra Herald Award for Best Dressed Shop & Window Display

This award is for the business that constantly maintains their shop and/or window to a high standard Give examples of why you think this is the best dressed shop and/or window in Cootamundra.


·         Cootamundra Herald Excellence in Innovation Award

Selection Criteria (This award category has been aligned with NSW Business Chamber Regional Awards)

Recognises businesses that have made significant contributions to their industry through the introduction or improvement of an idea, method, technology, process or  application - see category questions listed in nomination form


·          Cootamundra Shire Council Community Service Award

This award is for the individual or organisation that is committed to the community of Cootamundra. Give examples of the individual or organisation’s involvement in various aspects within the local community


·         The Hills Shire Council Community Contribution Award

This  award is for the business that supports local community events/ groups and charities. Give examples of business' involvement within community events/programs.


·         Twomeys Best New Business Award

This award recognises new businesses established in the last 12 months or new owners to a business operating in a business for a period of less than 2 years, who have demonstrated good business practice in starting up, setting up or growing their business with success.

·        Manildra Meat CompanyYoung Entrepreneur Award

Selection Criteria. (This award category has been aligned with the NSW Business Chamber Regional Awards.


The Young Entrepreneur award recognises an inspirational young person aged between 18-35 years who, through their own commitment and passion, has built and operates a successful business - see category questions listed in nomination form.

This year, The CDC is excited to announce the introduction of the newest award category The Young Entrepreneur Award, which is an award that recognises an inspirational young person aged between 18 and 35 years who, through their own commitment and passion, has built and operates a successful business. This award also brings a new sponsor to the Business Awards with Wagga based company Viatek throwing their support behind this award category and the Business Awards event.


Another exciting aspect about this year’s Awards is the aligning of two of the 11 award categories with the NSW Business Chamber Regional Awards. The two categories being aligned with the NSW Business Chamber Regional Awards are the Viatek Young Entrepreneur of the Year and the Cootamundra Herald Excellence in Innovation Award, which recognises a business that have made made significant contributions to their industry  through the introduction of improvements of an idea, method, technology, process or application.


Winners of these two categories as announced at the Cootamundra Annual Business Awards Dinner on Saturday 20th June will then go on, provided they are members of the CDC and fall under the NSW business Chamber Alliance Program, to The NSW Business Chamber Regional Awards, which will be held on Friday 2nd October.

Wattle Time Fair

To celebrate Cootamundra's iconic Wattle Time (Throughout the month of August), the people of Cootamundra will again come together to celebrate the Wattle Time Fair and Community Street Parade. This event continues to grow in popularity and is a great opportunity for the entire community to celebrate Wattle Time festivities. The Wattle Time Fair is just one of the many Wattle Time events celebrated throughout the month of August.

The Cootamundra Development Corporation is again hosting the Annual Wattle Time Fair in conjunction with the Wattle Time Community Street Parade. The one day Fair event will be held on Saturday 27th August 2016 at Albert park from 9am to 4pm with the Wattle Time Street Parade making its way down Parker Street at 12noon.

The fair is set to incorporate all things home, garden, lifestyle and leisure.

This year marks the fourth Annual wattle Time Fair event since being revamped in 2012.

Last year's Wattle Time Fair was a wonderful success with more than 5,--- visitors making the most of the day and the beautiful weather. the Wattle Time Fair is an event for the whole family and a day packed with lots to see and do including more than 80 market stalls, catering stalls, marquee sites, there is plenty for the kids to see and do including pony rides, other amusements, face painting, jumping castle and entertainment throughout the day.

New stall holders are more than welcome to join in the festivities.

Welcome Packs

The CDC has recently put together  ‘Welcome to Cootamundra Packs’. The aim of the packs is to make newcomers feel welcome and showcase the products and services available within Cootamundra Shire. The packs contain information from local businesses and community organisations and are available from the CDC, Cootamundra Shire Council and the Visitor Information Centre.
