A warm, caring environment has been created at the preschool by staff who are highly qualified and experienced, and who work closely together to plan and implement an educational program that is fun, stimulating, balanced and developmentally appropriate. We welcome children with additional needs in our centre. Our play-based curriculum is developed directly from the children's interests and careful observations by staff. We provide activities specifically designed to develop each child's skills, confidence, independence and self-reliance, and in conjunction with the local schools, offer a transition to school program.
We welcome and encourage parent involvement, as we recognise that parents are important partners in their child's education, and that children experience greater success at school when their parents are actively involved in their education. Parents may be involved in service management (as a member of the management committee), attending monthly meetings, participating in classroom activities, fundraising and rosters. We have a regular newsletter which is available to every family.
Cootamundra Centenary Preschool Association Inc has been providing a high quality educational service for families and the community for over thirty years. Two of the educators on duty at any time have university qualifications in teaching and education. All staff have current first aid certificates, and regularly participate in professional development activities. Parents and members of the community manage the Preschool on behalf of the community, and work with the staff to implement the service. This makes the Preschool the only community owned and managed, not-for-profit Preschool in Cootamundra, where all the money raised through fees, fundraising and donations is put straight back into improving the service for the benefit of our community's children. We are funded and fully licensed by the NSW Department of Community Services, and offer fee subsidies to eligible families.
